Heart Experiement

The Heart. Don’t think it’s a human heart but a sheep heart. It’s just the same as in human heart. The Experiment in the laboratory is to dissect a sheep heart and here we are taking pictures of the dissected heart.

The ventricles of the sheep heart is obviously visible. You can see the left and right ventricle, the aorta, the inter-ventricular septum muscle, the myocardium, and pulmonary trunk.

It’s the posterior half of the sheep heart.

This is the other half of the heart. There is the auricle, the tricuspid valve, the cordenae tendenae, trabeculae carneae, the papillary muscle, the myocardium, and the inter-atrial septum.

This is the anterior half of the heart.

The dissectors. Michelle, me, and Coney.

After cutting the heart we try to locate our pulse and listen to each others heart beat. We even tried locating the atrial systole and the ventricular systole. its called auscultation- listening to something inside the body.

I guess even we are having fun in our laboratory experiment we knew something when the get done with everything.

Shiyet, Falling down!

Seriously it is really a “shitty” thing happen to me.

I rushing out the building after class to catch the bus and I suddenly slipt from the stairs in my college building. It feels like a slow motion at that very time. I though I was going to tumble down the stairs but thank goodness i did not. Instead, i was there sitting all hurt and in shock. I can’t even get a chance to fix myself properly even in sitting up. I try to act like nothing happen and i dont want to grab anyones attention, yet they already did. Even my lower back and my butt hurts I’d try to stand up and walk like normal while holding the pain and agony im trying to hide. I hope this will worn out and eveything will be fine especially in the future. :(

LG, Went falling down, falling down, falling down.

LG, went falling down, my painful butt!… ouch!

My Febuary 26th Day.

It was my first day of orientation in my new job. There are only 2 of us who are the CNA’s and most of the class are LPN’s. We did some lectures and go through some policies and ruls of the facility. It was pretty much fun. I learned another ways of how I do the correct manner on job.

Even though I had to take some absences in my classes in college, I still have to manage all the study work. Beacause when I come back to class, we will have a lot of test. Midterm is coming and I don’t want to be behind from all the topics that my class had already taken. Well, I still have to e-mail my classmate to get some note in what topic are they are in right now.

And also, I still have to apply for admission in different colleges institution and continue my nursing degree. My aim right now is be the top notcher in the class, I could be a top notcher of the batch if ill just give my best in this degree. I want to finish it and live life as what I want for myself and for my family. I’m looking forward for all blessings that will come to my life. Come what may and God Bless me. peace!

Story analysis : “The Tell Tale Heart”

The “The Tell Tale Heart” is one of the famous short stories created by a well-known American Poet, Edgar Allan Poe. It was punished at The Pioneer in the January 1843 edition, and was been reprinted by The Broadway Journal in the August 23rd, 1845 issue. This story is a first person narration that confesses a murder, which has a psychological complexity matter and is completely similar to the authors’ deal of his life. The protagonist insanity is seen prior in the story where he tells about his madness, what have disturbed him, and what made him do a motiveless crime.Poe’s writings like the “The Tell Tale Heart” mirrored to his personal life, family, and habits. Poe is an orphan raised by his uncle John Allan, who never fostered him for his college and who turn out to be the reason of his depression and triggered him to end up being alcoholic, addicted to drugs, and delivered certain judicious axiom, and finally his sexuality. Not only that, it upsets him as well from the effect of the death of his wife, Elizabeth Poe, on their “gifted son. Since then, most of Poe’s writings are all about death and mysteries.

In the story the narrator speaks in which he defends his obsession of his psychotic self however admit to have killed a man. He stated in the beginning of the story that he loved the old men that he never wronged him, that he think its is the eye that made him go insane, where as he describe it as “the eye of the vulture–a pale blue eye, with film over it”. Furthermore, this madness made him ambush to the old mans chamber and each nightly mysterious visits grow profound. His insanity becomes absolute where he decided to take the old mans life. This persuasive logic of time tells us his determination in getting rid of the cause of his frenzies. Captivating his mentality in scrutinizing his victim gradually thorough him and his lunatic personality.

In some countries the eye symbolize as an evil eye that this might made the narrator having phobia in seeing it from the old man. Some people believed that this evil eye have the power to harm people not only physically of their own but also their possessions as well as those people that surrounds him by just merely looking at them. This also gives misfortune and unidentified illnesses. Thus, this initiates him to think that this old mans eyes evokes a dark hidden side. Regardless of some understanding of the word “eye”, some critics thought, as it is a letter “I” that identifies as him. The internal “I” that represents his loneliness, death, problematic state of his relationship towards his self-consciousness and self-unconsciousness.

The narrator never implies the details on how he murdered the old man. He just stated that he “pulled the heavy bed over him”. Hence, at the end of the passage it one by one said what he did to the old mans corpse. To be able not to detect any wrongdoing or foul play, the narrator had dismembers the dead body in a tub so that there is no mess or bloodstains to clean up afterwards. He buried the cut pieces of arms, limbs, and head, underneath the floorboards of the old man’s room. This psychotic action perceives his mentality that he has to hide the unlawful operation that he planned for about eight perplexing nights.

The idea of the title of the story implies to what had happen in the parable that came to the fact on how he turn over himself and confess to the authorities of what he had done early that evening. The strange sound that he had heard beneath the old mans chamber made him panic and think that it is the old mans heart that arise his guilt and strongly drives him unto his collapse insanity. However, not literally he heard the heart beat of the old man but to a certain extent it is his own heart, which he had heard. When his success takes its place, his very being separate him from illusion and reality. He gain his consciousness, his normal being stands up in his entity where it made him realize the good and bad and subjective himself to pay for what he had done.

Glass Menagerie-Character Analysis (Laura Wingfield)

The character of Laura Wingfield, form a play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams’, is a young lady that has a physical defect that made her walk lamely. She mostly turns away when dealing with her emotions where she withdraws her self from the society. Her emotion is so fragile, which made her trap in her fantasy dreams.Laura is devastatingly timid and embarrassed because of her infirmity. Her legs are cripple- considering one of her leg in some extent is shorter so as to the other leg- and have on a metal brace on her foot that is hardly to notice. Being a slightly handicap, Laura does not have any involvement from her outside world. “She lives in the world of her own- a world of -little glass ornaments” (979). Laura is in the maximum threat to her family. She has no strength like her mom, Amanda, and capability to getaway like brother Tom. She is so apprehensive that even in her business class, she cannot intact her-self together. Her view of escape is totally different from her family; her escape is seems to be hiding inside their apartment, not outside of it.

Laura is a selfish person unknowingly. Amanda made her attend to the Business College for her to have a better future but after the throw up incident in her typing class, Laura decided not to go to school. She felt so embarrassed for what she had done in front of the class. Meanwhile Amanda thought that her daughter is doing well in school where she pays Laura’s whole tuition fee. She even did not care about her mother’s feelings. She did not even apologize to what she did- wasting Amanda’s money, dreams for her, and the effort that her mom puts on her and her future. She even pretended that she went to school everyday but instead she visits the zoo and the Jewel Box (960). Her lack of self-confidence made her think of just herself alone. She does not think what others do to her. Her selfishness can also be notice in her lines in the play, which she only had a few conversation to other characters.

Fantasy world is where Laura confidently lives. Her mind is always out of her psyche. She is always in a place where she found herself comfortable and alone like the zoo or in a Jewel-box. Her collection glass menagerie and old records symbolize as her own private world set separately her from the reality. It is a place where she can hide herself and be safe mentally and emotionally; she plays and listens or fantasizes in here illusory sanctuary.

Laura overcomes her shyness when she felt comfortable talking to Jim. She completely opens up and telling him things from their past- that Jim used to call her “Blue Rose”, that she had a crush on Jim, etc…(994) However, after talking for a while and starting dancing, Laura looses and allows Jim to take her to the reality. The kiss from Jim made her a real person in a sudden where she even completely forgotten the broken piece of glass. Thinking that if there is a person that will boost up her confidence, like Jim, she can come out from the world that she had made and live being realistic in the social reality. If that support came from a person that is so dearly for her, Laura might be free from the faction world.

The Glass Menagerie categorized the subjugation of reality by misapprehensions as a massive and rising characteristic of the human stipulation in its matter. Like porcelain, Laura is a delicate, fanciful and an old style type of a woman. Glass is translucent as soon as the light strikes on it, rainbow colors appears. Similar to Laura, even she is a quiet type but she can blend around every stranger. Her personality depends on a person’s impression when they laid their eyes on her.

In addition, even Laura is a shy type of girl still she stand in her decision like dropping the class without the knowledge of Amanda. Even she is a fragile girl she still have the strength to handle the days she splurges walking the cold street just to keep away from her typing class. This manner emphasize that she deliberately show her determination to avoid circumstances that she was running from but ending it to come over and over again.

Case Study: Marijuana

My group in my English 151 class will present a case study about the abuse of marijuana and how to stop teenagers from taking it.
INTRUDUCTION:
Drug abuse among teenagers has been a problem and will continue to be major concern in our society. There are many illegal drugs that are readily available to any age group. One drug in specific that is more likely popular among teenagers is marijuana. It is a drug that affects the person’s behavior in related to its purpose. Marijuana is cheapest illegal drug that a teen can purchase than any other drugs. This substance has its long short-term and long-term problems to every teen that could end up ruining their lives.
BACKGROUND
Cannabis, or more commonly called marijuana, has been around for as long as there has been life on earth. Today people use marijuana for many different reasons. Such reasons consist of depression, stress, or just to have fun. “Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United States.” (gdca.org/statistics/marijuana.htm, pg 3 of 5). ” The percentage of youth aged 12-17 indicating a great risk of smoking marijuana once a month remained unchanged between 1999 and 2000. (32.7% in 1999 and 37.7% in 2000).” (gdca.org/statistics/marijuana.htm, pg 3 of 5). The amount of teens that have been reported using drugs has declined gradually since 2001. There were around 19.4% of teens reported using drugs in 2001, and in 2006, the percentage was 14.9%. “Cannabis, which remains the most frequently reported drug of misuse, has also seen 5 year decreases in use, although this trend appears to have slowed among the youngest students.” (Clinical Digest, 16).
KEY PROBLEM
· Family Problems
When parents are having a divorce.
When a teen came from a troubled family (e.g. One or both of the parents are alcoholic)
· School Problems
Peer Pressure
Teens are having low grades in their classes.
Teens are having hard time to assimilate to other group of teens.
Increases high school dropouts.· Health Problems
Effects on the brain (e.g. difficulty of memory, thinking, problem solving, and learning)
Increase heart rate that could cause sort type of cardiovascular
Respiratory diseases.
Can cause sort types of cancer.
ALTERNATIVES
· Teens must have proper guidance and supervision by their parents or an older person that surrounds them on a daily basis.
· Parents or guardians should be a good example to the youngsters, so that kids will have someone to look up to.
· School authorities should more likely pay more attention to their students’ problem aside from just teaching them.
· Government should implement strong law in forbidding the use of marijuana.
SHORT TERM SOLUTION
· The academics officials could conduct a mandatory drug tests to every student in the school.
· Teens could be placed in a rehabilitation-counseling program within the school.
· Introduce students to a person that could share his personal experience when he is under the influences of illegal drugs particularly.
LONG TERM SOLUTIONS
· Government should increase their force and power to capture the person who is responsible in dealing these illegitimate drugs.
· Create an addiction patch, like the ones people use for their addiction to nicotine, nicotine patches.
· A person should have his own will present if he wants to stop the use of marijuana.
“Alright too much of info. The happening is while Daniel is portraying as Mike’s father, there is a scene where he is acting drunk. Accidentally Daniel spills the coke out of the liquor bottle (obviously it is our props for an alcoholic drink). The content was every where- at the board, Daniels shirt, the professors table, at the floor, etc… that was the funniest part in what we all did, aside from the fact my group is a very good comedian.”

(this is just my case study in my English class, hope no one will be offended. Yet, if there are things that sounds not right, feel free to notify me. Just for my personal knowledge, I am willing to learn from you. )
